When enrolling the finger make sure that the finger is placed on the fingerprint reader:
- centrally (not high or too low on the screen),
- flat (not just the tip of the finger), and
- not inclinded to either the left or right
There are four main factors that can cause a fingerprint to not be recognized:
•Angle of finger
•Positioning of finger
•Dirty fingers
•Dirty Sensor
Angle of finger
The finger is being put onto the reader at a slightly different angle than when the fingerprint first enrolled. The finger may be slightly rotated or the core of the fingerprint is not being seen.
Only the fingertip may be being presented (vertical)
The finger may be being placed in an offset position, to the left or right, on the fingerprint reader

The finger may be rotated (inclined) slightly to the left or right
The finger may be being placed in an offset position, either too high or too low, on the fingerprint reader
In each instance the core of the fingerprint should be presented as fully as possible. See FAQ Topic 'Fingerprint - Capture'.
Positioning of finger
When fingerprints are initially captured ensure that they are placed not only flat but centrally on the fingerprint sensor. See FAQ Topic 'Fingerprint - Capture'. Employees should present their fingers in the same manner from then on.
Often employees are initially nervous of the terminals and only put the tip of their finger onto the reader or their finger at an angle.
Dirty fingers
The employees hands might be dirty or they might have developed a mark on their finger .
Dirty Sensor
The sensor itself might be dirty and needs to be cleaned.
The fi ngerprint terminal provides 4 types of enrolment methods: Summary
• Fingerprint enrolment
User enrolls his fi ngerprint template into a terminal and the template will
be used for future verifi cations.
• Password enrolment
For user who has diffi culty to enrol fi ngerprint due to poor fi ngerprint
quality, enrolment of password is recommended. Password enrolment is
also suitable for visitors and temporary workers.
• Fingerprint and password enrolment
Under this option, a user can enrol both fi ngerprint and password at
the same time. The user can either use fi ngerprint or password to report attendance or to gain access.
• RFID card enrolment
Please refer to Chapter 2.7 for RFID Card Function.
