CD Burning

There are many different utilities that can be used for burning CD's.  We detail the steps to be taken using a version of Nero Express which should provide a good guideline to apply in the use of your software.

Nero StartSmart

Double-click on the “Nero StartSmart” icon.

Move your mouse pointer over the 'Data' option and then click “Make Data CD”.

Click the “Add” button:

Select the folder/s or files that you would like to backup, then click “Add”, and then “Finished”.

Now that the file(s) are added click “Next”.

Give the CD a name.  We suggest that the name describe the contents of the disk e.g. Wages14Oct2007, then click “Burn”

A progress bar should then display which means the CD is being written:

Once the CD has been written there should be a message saying “Burn Process Completed Successfully”, click “Ok” and then on the main window click “Next”. (If it says “Burn Process Failed” phone for assistance.) Click “Exit”, if you are prompted to “Save the Project”, click “No”

You are done.

Nero Burning ROM

Double-click on the “Nero Burning ROM” icon.

This screen will show.  There are three options: “Start Multisession”, “Continue Multisession” and “No Multisession”.  The meanings are:

o

Start Multisession – If you have a blank CD (CD-R) or Re-Writable CD (CD-RW) and this is the first time you are going to write to it, and you want to write other backups to it at a later date, choose this option.

o

Continue Multisession – If you have already written a backup(s) to this CD and now want to add on to it, choose this option. (NOTE: You must have left the CD open to use this option otherwise it will not work, for more details go to the last step.)

o

No Multisession – If you just want to write the backup(s) to the CD and do not want to add files later, choose this option. (If you are going to use a separate CD for each backup then this would be the best option.)

Select “CD-ROM (ISO)” on the opening screen

Click “New”.

The main window will now show, the two sections on the left are for what will go on the CD (if the CD already has some files then they will be listed there).
