SQL

Belina chose to store the data produced by Belina PayrollHR in a Microsoft SQL database.

Advantages of using SQL

SQL itself has excellent security thus protecting your data from unauthorized access.  There is a comprehensive password protection of the data itself.  It is not possible for someone to access that data without passwords.  They must have login to get into SQL.

SQL comes with a scripting/ structured query language which enables the extraction of data and communication between various SQL software packages

All the data is kept in one place instead of separate files.

SQL is renowned for its stability.

Previous versions of Belina Payroll, and other software packages, require the sharing of folders in a networking environment.   This undermines security internally as well as from virus threats externally.

Previous versions of Belina Payroll stored each payroll's data in a separate folder.   Belina PayrollHR stores the data for all the payrolls in the SQL database which enables easier consolidation of payrolls.

Disadvantages of using SQL

Computer equipment needs to be have sufficient resources

It is possible for the administrator to have limited access the SQL database from the 'Database' menu within the system for running smaller scripts, to do this:

Go to the 'Data', then 'Support Menu', then Database menu options

Enter the administrator login details to access this option
