There are instances where the fingerprint quality is not defined enough for the terminal to effectively recognize the fingerprint when the employee is clocking in at the terminal.
Fingerprints not being recognized
- Several People:
If there are a number of people in your organization where fingerprints are not being recognised consider reducing the sensitivity of the terminal scanner. This means that the terminal will not be wanting to match the fingerprint in as much detail. In some organizations , especially where employees are handling chemicals or doing heavy manual labour with their hands their fingerprints may not be that distinct. Reducing the sensitively will reduce the failure rate of the fingerprint recognition and speed up the process.
If fingerprints are failing at an unacceptable rate consider using proximity cards for clockings or instal a facial or hand recognition terminal.
- One or two people:
If there are just one or two people in your organization where fingerprints are not being recognised consider making those employees clock-in using:
- Keypad entry of their employee number and password (See FAQ Topic - 'Clocking Methods'), or
- Proximity card reader (See FAQ Topic - 'Clocking Methods')
Poor fingerprint quality is most often seen on:
- Older people
- People whose fingers are continuously exposed to harmful substances or chemicals.
